While Crypton® is the easiest fabric in the world to clean, it is not self cleaning. In reality, most new stains come off with a damp cloth and water. There is one suggested cleaning method that is universally and easily available—the use of enzyme detergent (listed below) and water.
Routine maintenance and overall care:
- Vacuum regularly to thoroughly remove air-borne dust and lint.
- Turn and rotate loose cushions to equalize wear and soiling.
- Promptly treat spots and stains.
- Clean periodically to remove accumulated dirt and retain the fabric’s original appearance.
- Never use a solvent cleaning product on a Crypton® fabric
Spot cleaning method:
- Before spot cleaning, blot up liquids on the surface with a clean, soft towel and brush off any loose dirt.
- Prepare a cleaning solution of 1/4 tsp mild, enzyme detergent, such as Tide®, Woolite® or Dawn® dishwashing liquid, per 1 cup of lukewarm water.
- Apply the cleaning solution using a misting spray bottle. Do NOT oversaturate when applying the cleaning solution.
- Allow cleaning solution to soak into the fabric.
- Work the solution into the affected area by lightly scrubbing the area with a sponge or soft bristle brush. Make sure to work from the outside of the stain inward so as not to spread the stain. Rinse the sponge or brush frequently.
- Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue, as residue will attract dirt. Blot excess moisture with a clean, soft towel or sponge.
- Repeat steps above as needed.
- Allow fabric to air dry.
Extraction cleaning method:
- Before extraction cleaning, blot up liquids on the surface and vacuum the upholstery.
- Treat any visible stains using the spot cleaning method above.
- Follow directions on filling your extracting machine with the proper solution; wet the area with pre-spray, and vacuum up the solution. Be sure to extract the entire surface of the upholstered furniture to achieve uniform cleanliness.
- Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue, as residue will attract dirt.
- Repeat steps above as needed.
- Allow fabric to air dry.
